Caregiving Workshop Series: Caring Tools for the Caregiver
Do you help or care for a parent, spouse, child, partner, friend or neighbor?
If you do, you are a caregiver and we’re here to support you. New Hope Church will be providing a series of classes for caregivers, presented by Community Health Nurse, Sharon Hofer, RN.
Our goal is to provide education, resources, support, and offer a place for connection. Classes are free and in person. All classes will conclude with time for group discussion. Refreshments will be provided.
*The workshops will be limited to a capacity of 30 registrants.
Caregiver Workshop Series Options:
October 5: Caregiving-Building Your Toolkit: In this class, you will receive resource materials that will help you start building your toolkit. We will discuss and provide tools for navigation and advocacy in the healthcare system, from medical emergency to hospitalization to discharge.
November 2: Dementia -An Overview: Understanding Alzheimer's, other types of dementias and conditions that lead to cognitive impairment, as well as the challenges faced by caregivers. A broad range of resources to add to your toolkit will be provided.
January 4: Working with Challenging Behaviors: Dealing with difficult behaviors is one of the hardest parts of caregiving. Our guest speaker will help you understand and manage these demanding situations.
February 1: Plan and Prepare – Overview of Legal, Financial, and Care Planning Specialist in Elder Law and Estate Planning, attorney Chris Ray, from Fitzwater Law, Inc., will provide information and resources to help you plan for the road ahead, including long-term care.
