Event Description
New Hope Church, along with Sharon Hofer, RN, a community health nurse, is hosting the Caring Together Fair, Saturday, May 2 from 10AM-4:30PM. It will include workshops for caregivers and tables featuring a wide range of resources for you and your loved one.
Entry and all workshops are free and in person. All workshops are designed to help you gather information and ask questions about your specific needs.
At the Caring Together Fair workshops, you can build your toolkit with resource materials, tools for navigating and advocating in the healthcare system, and knowledge of what to do in a medical emergency, during hospitalization, and at discharge. You are invited to learn about Dementia and understand Alzheimer's, as well as other types of conditions that lead to cognitive impairment, such as Parkinson's, and the challenges faced by caregivers. In addition to these resources, you can join workshops on legal and financial planning for your future, and a broad range of additional resources will be provided to add to your toolkit.

The Scam Landscape: Staying Safe
This session is designed to empower the community with the knowledge and tools to recognize, avoid, and respond to scams and fraudulent activity.
- Learn to identify common scams and tactics used to steal money or personal financial information-and how to avoid becoming a victim.
- Understand what information should never be shared over the phone or internet, and how scammers manipulate trust to gain access.
- Build awareness of evolving scam strategies, from phishing emails to phone impersonations, and how to stay one step ahead as technology advances.
- Recognize AARP as a trusted ally in the fight against fraud-your wise friend and partner in staying safe and informed.

Melissa Greer with Parkinson's Resources of Oregon will provide an overview of Parkinson's disease and what caregivers can expect as the condition progresses.
Explore resources available to caregivers, from education to support networks. Attendees will also receive guidance on planning ahead, including how to build a personalized caregiver packet that keeps important information organized and ensures you're prepared.
